The Affiliate Director provides leadership and support to the local Advisory Board and its committees to implement charitable activities, services, and programs to improve quality of life for residents of Louisa County. This is a part-time contract position for an estimated 30-40 hours per month. Stipend commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities:
Board Relations
Serves as the liaison between the Advisory Board and the Community Foundation of Greater Muscatine (CFGM) to ensure that the Board is kept informed of important initiatives, processes, and events.
Assists the Board Chair with new Board member orientation and other training as needed.
Promotes active, broad participation in all areas of the organization's work.
Provides a monthly Affiliate Director report to the Board.
Conducts an annual evaluation of Board effectiveness.
Plans recognition events for retiring Board members.
Prepares or reviews Board and committee meeting minutes.
Development, Public Relations, and Communications
Engages Board members in asset development and donor relations to reach the goals outlined in the strategic plan.
Helps develop and implement a communications plan to raise community awareness.
Prepares news releases and other publications. Manages website and Social Media accounts.
Actively seeks to increase assets through contacts and presentations to organizations, individuals, and community groups.
Participates and encourages in the development of relations with professional advisors such as lawyers, accountants, insurance agents, financial advisors, and others.
Explore avenues for strengthening local non-profit capacity and collaboration for meeting community needs.
Oversees the selection and promotes the recipient of the annual Community Caring Award.

Finance and Administration
Oversees the preparation of an annual budget. Monitors operating expenditures to stay within budget.
Prepares monthly and quarterly treasurer’s reports for Advisory Board meetings.
Handles gifts and financial transactions promptly and accurately in conjunction with the CFGM accounting team.
Seeks grant opportunities for advisory Board programs or initiatives.
Assures compliance with CFGM policies and procedures.
Grantmaking
Works with the Advisory Board to develop a grantmaking program to meet community needs.
Assists Board members in reviewing grants and determining awards.Â
Monitors grantmaking activities and maintains appropriate grant files.
Communicates with potential applicants regarding the grant application process and provides support to applicants in submitting online applications and final reports.
Works with the Board to plan and execute granting receptions.
Actively seeks opportunities for collaboration among grantees concerning philanthropic activities.

Training and Other Duties
Participates in training provided by CFGM and the Iowa Council of Foundations. Seeks additional opportunities for staying abreast of industry trends.Â
Develops and utilizes computer skills as needed for optimal performance.
Fulfills other duties as assigned by the Advisory Board and/or CFGM.
Works with the Advisory Board and CFGM as needed.
Maintains confidentiality.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or 5-7 years of relevant business and/or non-profit experience.
Experience with executive level communication and presentations, preferred.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, virtual meetings, and project management tools.
Strong organization skills and ability to manage multiple initiatives.
Additional Information: Connection to the Louisa County area, either through residence or professional role, is preferred. Weekend and evening hours are sometimes required. Attendance, punctuality, professional appearance, and conduct required. Must have proven attributes of confidentiality, honesty, and integrity. Must have own transportation. Ability to lift and carry 20 pounds. Successful candidates may undergo skills verification at Temp Associates.
