Community Caring Award Presented to Morning Sun Hometown Pride

The Community Foundation of Louisa County awarded the 2024 Community Caring Award to Morning Sun Hometown Pride. Morning Sun Hometown Pride was nominated by Kathy Stocker for their consistent dedication to improving the quality of life in their community.

This energetic volunteer group enriches the lives of community members by cleaning up and beautifying the community, and cultivating Morning Sun’s youth, citizens, and school.

Morning Sun Hometown Pride has completed projects such as landscaping and adding signage at the cemetery, creating a free community garden with 14 raised beds, and completing over $40,000 of sidewalks on the division street’s southside from the school park to downtown. Their current and most significant project is a new splash pad and playground which the group is currently fundraising for with a goal of $200,000.

Along with these major projects, Morning Sun Hometown Pride also increases community pride by providing annual events and upkeeping traditions such as the Festival of Trees, holiday light contest, Halloween costume party, Easter egg hunt, community Bingo nights, and more! They put on these activities to attract people to the community, along with raising money for improvement projects.

Community caring is exemplified by Morning Sun Hometown Pride. This group of volunteers, mostly young moms, go above and beyond to make their hometown shine. We thank Morning Sun Hometown Pride for their dedication and service to make a positive impact in their community.

The Community Caring Award was presented at Morning Sun Hometown Pride’s family Bingo night event on March 14. As part of the award, Morning Sun Hometown Pride received a $300 donation to support their organization.
